...for anyone reading this who isn't my college roommate! :)

We're reading together a book called The Purpose-Driven Life, by a guy named Rick Warren. This is something we do periodically, usually for Advent or Lent: choose a book, usually a seasonal devotional or at least something that fits handily (like this book) and read it "together" over the miles, and then discuss it. It's a way we stay close, and keep doing something we always enjoyed when we roomed together: discussing books!

Of course, we're both rather busy people, so the discussion gets a little slow sometimes...but bear with us, or skip those entries if they're not interesting. I promise other interesting things in addition to them.

Thanks . . .

. . . for taking over the lion's share of the typing to facilitate our discussion. Best laid plans . . . I think one reason I find it hard to stay 100% caught up with the reading plus have time to post about it is that I am copying out bits as I read. Long-ingrained habit from years of college, plus it helps me slow down and think. I'm using my Holy Cross journal from the writer's workshop as my spiritual journal.

Makes me happy to think of how many years we've been friends and how much that friendship has grown since then, despite the miles. :-D

Listening to interesting Recorded Book on the commute -- Lying Awake by Mark Salzman. Fictional account of a Carmelite nun who experiences intense mystical visions.

Re: Thanks . . .Oh, you're welcome!

And BTW you'll notice I'm nowhere near caught up to today yet! I try to do a couple each day, figuring I'll eventually overtake the day...ah, well...maybe by Pentecost...
